About MMR
Medieval Memoria Research (MMR) is an international online newsletter that provides information on current developments concerning research into the memoria culture (i.e. the commemoration of the dead) of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, until circa 1600.
Background and purpose
This newsletter originally started out in September 2008 under the title Medieval Memoria Research in the Low Countries. Since September 2011 the newsletter also covers international developments, and so its title has been shortened to Medieval Memoria Research. MMR was part of the Utrecht research project The functions of art, ritual and text in medieval memoria, and now works closely with the project Medieval Memoria Online (MeMO).
The newsletter is issued twice a year, usually in Spring and Fall. It informs subscribers on recent publications, congresses and symposiums, and various news items in the field of the commemoration of the dead. It is available in English.
